This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I understand and respect Scott's decision to ban Rob. This is his forum, and he must see that the proceedings take place in an environment that is amenable for all involved.
Having said this, I would like to state my support for Rob.
He has proven to be a friend, an honest man and honesty and honor speak volumes, more than wealth and arrogance.
Not everyone has the same ability to express thoughts or ideas the same way, and some people will rub us off the wrong way, as Rob has done so many times. As an adult, he knew or should have known, what was he doing, and the consequences of doing so.
I missed the whole ruckus and I don't know what happened, but Scott has done what is best for WIX.
Kernel, one of these days, I will have the pleasure again, of visiting the restaurant in NH and we'll have a couple of beers; my friendship is true in good and bad times.
Saludos,
Tulio

Tulio, I find your statements about honesty and honour very difficult to reconcile with the posts that Rob made about his involvement pulling bodies out of the Pentagon and the various claims about the odd Hurricanes and Buffalo sitting in the woods. Are peoples' memories that short?

Robbo, your experiences with Rob Rohr are not the same as mine.
I don't even know what you are talking about previous postings.
I have met the man, in person and I have had contact with him for many years now.
Nothing to date, has indicated any dishonesty on his part whenever we have dealt at WIX or off-board.
Thus, based on what I know, I state my friendship and support for him.
You evidently have had other experiences, and of course, are free to do as you see fit, just the same as I am doing.
Saludos,
Tulio

Maybe he did, maybe he didn't I don't think you have any creditable proof either way. So What! There is alot of B.S. on the web! I wasn't around when Rob did whatever Rob did but I still like him regardless. Even if some of it might be B.S.
Is the Flypast board Down?

I'm sure that plenty of people have good enough memories to recall Rob's claims about 9/11.

This post has served it's purpose, and before I let Mr. Rohr disrupt another thread, even in his absense, I am locking this thread. Thanks for everyone's support.

Sorry Rob, short of a donation of several million dollars or a large multi-engined aircraft there is no way Mr. Rohr will be allowed back on the forum.
It would appear that this is not the case. I note he is posting once again.

And I, for one, welcome him back with open arms. He can be a cage-rattler, to be sure, but he works to get results, and there have been some positive changes at his favorite target, the NHC.
It has been over three years since we last saw the Colonel here... I think it would be appropriate to give the man a bit of leeway, especially given the events of the past week, and see if we can all co-exist once again.
Welcome back, Rob. Here's hoping you can stay a while.
Respectfully,
Lynn

While it was nice of Scott to allow the COL to post here for the sake of Gary's untimely death, I think it is time for him to go back into absence. I also got to have some contacts with Rob Rohr when he moved to Baltimore, who proceeded to tell me he worked for the CIA, spoke fluent Russian, spoke with Dave Tallichet weekly (including three weeks after he died), was intimately involved in the USN negotiations regarding warbirds, and knew about Kermit Weeks personal life. He was, to my complete satisfaction, disproved on all accounts by persons known well to this board, and every where he went with me, he caused disruptions. Therefore, he was asked to leave my organization. While at first I did not approve of his suspension from this board, after spending time with him, seeing him in action, and having some frightful experiences with him, including some unrealistic demands, I can completely understand why he was asked to leave. While I don't want to see anybody publicly pilloried with no chance for explanation, I can tell you with 100% confidence that Rob Rohr is NOT who he claims he is regularly in public, and cannot be trusted with the simplest tasks regarding warbirds. Fact is, I would never allow Rob Rohr anywhere near any airplane I ever intended to fly ever again.
I also have to say that he is usually a nice guy, knows a lot about warbirds, and can be good company at times. But I also have to say that some of the things he did while in my company would alienate 99% of the people here. People have seen that I disagreed with the ban of Bill Greenwood, which I still do in some ways. But I have no problem with the ban that was emplaced for Rob Rohr- he simply is disruptive in any warbird organization.
That said, while I at times have had my doubts about the signifigance of WIX in the warbird community, I truly believe that this place is a credible, if sometimes contentious and amateur, public meeting ground for warbird enthusiasts, restorers, owners, and operators. I submit to all members that if we are to signifigantly increase the substantive contributions to the warbird community that we are capable of making, that we need to publicly cleanse ourselves of the worst influences and maintain a positive public forum for all. I am sure there are other persons among us who have nothing to do with warbirds in any real way and whose actions only make this a negative place. I am not advocating a witch hunt, but when one of these people eventually makes themself evident, the board owners need to take appropriate action. In my opinion, they took the most appropriate action with Rob Rohr when they banned him and that should continue in effect.

I thought it was gracious and classy of Scott to let Rob back in for the purpose of expressing thoughts about Gary, and similarly to allow others to convey the thoughts of Hellcat. I'm sure if other respected suspended members such as Bill are reading and have something to say on the subject, many of us would be willing to serve as the conduit and would be given license to do so. That's all good and a mature recognition that some things are more important even than forum policies. Not that my opinion matters, but it's hard to see why these circumstances would justify reexamining whether an account should be suspended as a general matter. I miss everyone who has been banned, but then again, that's partly because I found the conduct that got them banned to be merely entertaining.

Ryan contacted me Tuesday to say that Scott was going to temporarly active the account of any banned member at their request in post their thoughts about Gary. I was asked to contact Bill for that purpose. Bill was unable to get in contact with Ryan or Scott so that's why you haven't seen a post from him. Mark removed himself from wix (for reasons you should understand) so I shared his note to me here. I offered Bill to post he thoughts but he was wanting to make his own post on the subject which I respect. I hope Bill gets thought and can make his post. But has far has I know this is only temporary and should be related to our friend Gary only.

Bill Greenwood already made a note in the RIP Gary thread.
