Airventure 2006 at Oshkosh

I have been lurking here for about a year. Finally decided to post. At Oshkosh, I will be with the OV-1 Mohawk in the Warbird area, I am easy to spot.....I have the pink flight helmet.

I understand that the OV-1 Mohawk is the best-looking airplane on the field. Best looking crewmembers, too, I've been told.... LOL

Poberezny is the frontage road that leads to the campground, and Waukau runs directly down to the FAA tower, so the house is very easy to find and within walking distance of the convention grounds.

Zack, your offer is most definately above and beyond, and I'll do everything I can to attend (which means that Brutsche and the other Hoppers have the rental cars. I'm not allowed to have one after the unfortunate "flower pot" incident, which by the way was never proven inspite of repeated rumors of a video tape).

I'm planning on arriving early Monday in Southern Cross, and should be there all week. If any WIXers want to meet up I'm usually at the plane after breakfast until about 10am, when I start exploring (I have to make it to the sea plane base this year. 34 years visiting OSH and haven't been there yet).

just like those reunions that you never recongize anyone...

would it make sense to give the wix'rs name tags...
on top can be the online name w/ us writing our first name down below..?

just a thought.. I'll even bring the tags and a couple
markers if folks think its a good idea...

Just a quick thank you to Zack & Jen for the great hospitality at the first WIX/Timeless Voices/Hyperscale/yadda yadda cookout ever. None of us looked too pretty after Friday's broiling on the ramp, but our hosts fed and watered us all like royalty. Nice time to unwind, put some faces to all the names, and watch the kids launch air rockets.

I'm glad to hear that the gathering on Friday came off so well. I'm sorry that I could not attend, as I had to depart Friday morning to return to Kansas City and get a checkout in the Yak-11 (which is a very fun and sporty airplane to fly thanks to the R-1830-75).

I also enjoyed meeting and seeing many WIXers at Southern Cross. Hopefully we can all meet up again next year.

Dan,

Sorry I wasn't able to hook up with you guys Friday evening. The family was dead tired after spending all day in that sweltering heat and humidity.

One thing I would like to say is that it is such a treat to be able to socailize with such wonderful and kind people from all over the world at EAA. This was nothing new to me but my wife was very surprised. She marveled that everyone was so polite and considerate and that the EAA grounds were so clean. She was expecting the opposite for such a large gathering. I tryed to explain to her that airshows like EAA tend to attract a higher calibre group of people. Last year we went to the Iola Military Car Show in Iola, WI and she was expecting a similar type of experience. Not to sound stereotypical, but lots of shady looking characters, neo-nazis, militia members, and just plain odd-balls.

With all the activities in the Eagle Hangar, most of the museum aircraft spent the week outside. Not too much worse for wear, and a little more clean after Sunday's storm!
