My guess is it would have ended up in a museum. I doubt it would have ended up as an airshow flyer unless someone with deep pockets stepped-up. I'm assuming the plane would have required a complete restoration to become a reliable airshow flyer like FiFi and Doc. It would have been neat to have preserved it as is with beat up paint and decades of exposure wear and tear. It was a real time capsule.

Just wondering if anyone can confirm what I got from a fairly reliable source 20 plus years ago saying that
Greenamyer had insured the Kee-Bird?
If so, the payout would be nice and it may be one of the reasons they didn't recover it.
No payout if you recover it since the insurance company would now "own it".
Just asking.

Darryl told me personally that he had cancelled the insurance previously due to the extreme cost and lost out completely. He also personally told me that Wally Fisk had $2M US Dollars waiting for when he delivered the airplane to him in Anoka, MN or Oshkosh.
