It appears the Ronald Lauder (Ellenville, LLC) Warbird Collection out on Long Island is being put up for for sale...

It started with the MK.I Spitfire up on Platinum Fighter Sales earlier today....

Then the awesome looking A6M2 Zero...

Corsair...

And the TBM formerly known as "Shes the Boss". Didn't realize it was picked up by Lauder.

Now I imagine the P-51D won't be far behind...

I really thought the Collings Foundation was going to acquire this set (especially for the Zero and Spitfire) but I guess fate has other plans in store! Hope they stay local as we were hoping to book the Corsair and Zero eventually for an appearance at CASC in Stratford.

If that P-51 is Tiger's Revenge I believe it has already changed hands per a JT post last month in the flyers thread.
Be interesting to see where the rest of the collection ends up!

I hope Spitfire P9374 will be purchased by a UK based owner and return to its original home!

I still rate it as the best ever Spitfire restoration, and definitely my favourite. Just need that Lotto jackpot...

Thom Richard took the Corsair to Houston...the new owner registration is in Montana. Not sure who bought it.

A couple of the aircraft were in a full page ad in the May FlyPast I received today, so they've been on the market for awhile when you consider the magazine lead time.

One warbird collector told me that by the time the general public learns a special warbird is for sale, it's already sold as everyone knows each other and keep an eye open for a particular aircraft.

Last year word starting spreading fast within the community about the sale of Yankee Lady...I hate that word spreads within the trust of the community...but there is always someone that lets the cat out of the bag. There was a huge blow up on Facebook within the Yanks volunteers denying the sale. It was really ugly, no matter who 'within the community' tried to reassure everyone that the sale was in the best interest of the airframe, it did little to ease feelings. The stages of anger and frustration were on full display. I truly believe that organizations suffer the most from a lack of transparency. Warbirds are always for sale...they are a commodity with temporary caretakers. It's not up to us as to how these commodities are parlayed, and within my own experience there are things that I won't talk about...not really secrets, but the inner working are hard to wrap your head around...

Yeah when TFC abruptly sold the P40C 20 plus years ago , when I talked with a friend in the industry he told me bluntly " It's a business". Ever since that day I totally get it when someone sells something . Sometimes , they regret it and go buy another one, like Rod Lewis with his second Mosquito.
