I just added an update at aerovintage on the current status of two of the three B-17s at the Erickson facility at Madras, Oregon...44-85718 that will become We the People and 44-85829 that was Yankee Lady.

https://www.aerovintage.com/2024/11/22/november-22-2024-update-from-madras/

Progress on both of them.

As you said, hat's off to Scott Glover and the Mid-America Flight Museum and the Erickson Aircraft for spending the money and taking the time to pioneer this wing effort.

Would like to hear more info on the new-build spar tubes for B-17 wings. How exactly was the problem solved? It my understanding it was never a difficult problem, the problem was doing it cost effectively. Basically a large sum of money was required to build the tooling to extrude a tube with an internal taper..... assuming they will now make runs of B-17 spar tubes? So many B-17 projects will benefit from this...

Those that can afford it, at least. If I ever hit the lottery, Desert Rat/Tangerine and the B-17C Project would get the next new ones.
