Yeah, that really is a tall order. Even if EAA were to give you the list, or publish it in Sport Aviation like they used to, there probably were dozens of what we would consider warbirds that registered as vintage and wouldn't be included.

I try to trace the ID of all the planes I shoot, but I don't try to shoot every T-28, T-6, or even P-51, if I have gotten better pics of it before. If anyone goes around trying to document every warbird, he is a more anal retentive completionist than me. And I don't think there are many such people!

I actually wanted a list of the fighters and bombers that were there. Hopefully that will be an easier list to make. Please make sure to look through your photos as I'm sure that will help you. Perhaps I should have said in my previous post that I'm not really interested in the trainers and there would probably be too many to identify in the first place.

Your best bet would be to contact Warbirds of America and see if they have the information you are looking for. Based upon my pictures (and quick count/estimate):

23x P-51's
2x B-29's
5x B-25's
1x P-40
1x P-47
1x A-26
1x SB2C
1x SBD
5x Corsair's
1x Yak-3 (Replica)
1x Hurricane
1x Spitfire
1x Lancaster

This is what we recorded in Registration:

The totals do not include any warbirds that displayed in Vintage or any of the Legacy/Heritage Flight birds that hangared over at Weeks (Happy Jack's Go Buggy, for example).

Great shots!
At the risk of sounding like a heretic on this site, I love the civil types...after all, they are rare enough to make most warbirds look common:
-UC-78 2nd BG/15th AF markings. My dad was in the same (5th) Wing.
-The WACO with enclosed cockpits. The FAA calls it a S3HD, a designation I'm not familiar with and it's not within the usual WACO naming convention, so an internal designation (as opposed to the marketing designation...the same way Porsche sold the 993 996, etc as the 911) perhaps?
I saw a very similar aircraft at the Western Antique Automobile and Airplane Museum...a YPF-6.
-You have to admire anyone who operates a Starship, one if the few (the last one?) that Beech didn't buy back.
I can only imagine the challenges operating a complex "orphan". And full marks for having the class to showing up with Burt Rutan.

The fifth B-25 referenced by hurricane_yank would be Berlin Express, which wouldn't be on this list since it is EAA's. I don't think it ever touched down at KOSH during the event anyway, it was just seen overhead.

There was also a third T-33, the Red Knight, NX133CR, over in Vintage. That just goes to show how much bleed-over there can be between categories.

Interesting that some of the current military stuff registers as a warbird while others do not.

The S3HD was the only civilian version of the "D" series of WACOs, which were marketed to foreign countries for military use. I've seen sources quote 13 or 14 "D" series variants built, which also included the S3HD-A, JHD-A, S2HD and WHD. The -A suffix designated armed variants. The surviving S3HD was the only civilian airframe built. It's an impressive aircraft to see in person.

I wonder if there is a complete WACO book out there, or of I need to just collect the types out of the Juptner ATC series. If anyone can recommend a book, I'd be interested.
Except for the antique community, WACOs don't seem to be well known by enthusiasts today, which is a pity.
I have flown in a friend's Custom Cabin and it's quite a machine.

For those interested, the WAAAM in Oregon has a dozen various models on display (plus two projects) which might be the largest collection anywhere.

Yup - we didn’t capture that one - Garbs

Our policy is that we’ll put them in the count if they come up and identify plus they are WB members, but they don’t get the swag unless they display up on our end of the flightline. Only exception is if they are asked to display at show center (like the Lanc and B-29’s) - Garbs

For current military, we invite them to join Warbirds and register, if we get to meet them. Those at show center are easy; those across 18/36 on the east side are harder to find. I asked the B-52 pilot if he was interested in getting judged. When he said “sure”, I asked the judges and they said “Hell yes!”. They won “Most Authentic” - Garbs
