Request for ID help on old photos

Fri Aug 16, 2024 4:25 am

I've been asked by 'Hurriquin' on the UKAR forum in the UK to help with identifying locations and identities for a series of old US museum and airshow photos, so I thought the WIX hive mind would be the perfect place to ask. I presume the link can be read here, if not then I'll try to post the pix individually. TIA.

Paul,

#1, my best guess is the Pueblo Weisbrod museum in Colorado. They have an H-21 painted like that, and a B-29 that probably was in that condition in the late 80s.

#3 is certainly Chino and I would place the date close to March 1989, when I photographed those planes in similar condition and arrangement. The Bearcat is 122674, the CAF's airplane.

#10 is a scaled down Reggiane Re 2002 replica, I see someone on the thread posted its ID and sad fate. I photographed it at Oshkosh in 1987, but it might also have been there other years.

#11 is Ryan ST NC17343.

I agree that all of the photos captioned "possibly at Oshkosh" appear to be at Oshkosh.

That Tesori RE-2002 is a new one; looks to be PZL-powered and a nice job.

Does anyone have any history? I'm assuming it was a one-off.

#4 is a BT-13 Val replica from Tora! Tora! Tora!; I have a shot of what I think is the same plane painted up but can't get to it right now.

I have ID'd #5 as Lockheed C-60A N1000B, ex USAAF 43-16462 (1943). Still at Chino with Planes of Fame. Aerial Visuals entry https://aerialvisuals.ca/AirframeDossie ... erial=4025. I have a photo from 1991 that shows the same discoloration pattern on the nose.

Found the shot of the BT-13 Val replica I took back in '83 at Chino:

#2 does not appear to have been taken at Chino. I don’t recall the T-6 with the three-bladed prop, the Marston matting or the BT-13. That may be Dennis Buehn’s T-6 which he made into a really nice sport plane in that configuration. I think he has been in Nevada for many years.
