To commemorate the RCAF's 100th Anniversary, we will be attending with North America's only flying Avro Lancaster from July 22 to 28.

Outstanding!! You guys brought her a few years ago, but the settings in my camera had somehow gotten changed so all of the photos are tiny. I've wanted a redo ever since.

Planes of Fame posted on Instagram yesterday some photos of Lewis' Mosquito being uncrated at Chino. Should be time to get it ready!

Probably old news (but just in case it isn't):

P-47D "Bonnie" (Bernie Vasquez piloting) is presently on the "Air Show Performers" list.

I don't actually know, or have any inside info.
I would however, strongly suspect that the logistics of hopping rides at Oshkosh are many.
You can't carry passengers during the airshow.
The airspace is typically very busy.
Other operators who hop rides tend to base out of Appleton or equivalent.
I'm also not sure how the FAA feels about Canadian registered aircraft hopping rides. It might be a bit complicated.

Thanks for the info! What you say is correct. Only EAA owned/operated aircraft can legally give passenger rides at Wittman Field during AirVenture. All others stage out of satellite bases such as Appleton, Fond-du-Lac, etc. I don't know the Canadian rules for giving rides outside of Canada. I do know that it is prohibited for FAA registered aircraft under an Exemption Letter to give paying passenger rides outside of the U.S., however.

I hope they give rides somewhere around Oshkosh, as they would make an absolute killing. I know I would buy one for sure, and I know at least 5 of my friends who would as well. I'm guessing there are tens, possibly hundreds more like me who would do the same.

No, we will not be offering rides while in Oshkosh. We are actually sold out for the 2024 season.

CWH
Just out of curiosity, we hear the ride business is booming, especially with Spitfires in the UK.
Are many of your rides sold to UK-based visitors...since there are no Lancaster rides available there?
Many Americans?

CWM Museum, just curious, does Transport Canada place any restrictions on you guys so that you are not allowed to sell rides in the Lanc outside your borders?

We have people come from around the world to fly on our Lancaster. Most come from across Canada. For international passengers, England would be our largest base of customers followed by the US (a small percentage).

The business model for our ride program is to almost exclusively operate from our base in Hamilton, Ontario. During our flying season (May to November), we operate approximately 12 aircraft and fly 4 days a week. We restrict the hours on the aircraft per season. For example, we fly the Lancaster for passenger rides only 50 hours per season (50 trips of four passengers). This season, the Lancaster sold out within minutes of going on sale, so there is also no need to operate the program elsewhere.
