Yep! now I see. Thanks Clifford for bring Dana to the forefront for his efforts. GREAT WORK on his and son's efforts. I hope those dudes over on that modeling site don't think I'm trying to take away from Dana's work. I also hope this thread is useful to them as well.

I also encourage any and ALL to add accurate information to any of the images I've posted so far. Glad to have others pitch in.

Thanks again Dana :supz:

Yes, actually I do have some very clear images of those photos. I'll post asap.

Also if you haven't looked here:

Thanks very much Mark!! I am looking forward to seeing those clearer versions.

I was looking at those films on the National Archive site just the other day, very cool footage.

Date is going to be somewhere between 1950-54, as 'Sally-B' was converted to EB-17G spec in late '49 and served from 50-54 with the GE Test Flight Centre. The Sally-B team say that at some point as well as the man-pod on the wing tip, she also had an infra-red tracking device fitted in place of the perspex nose.

According to Wikipedia the Bell X-1 was flown under a B-29 to Washington DC and presented to the American National Air Museum in 1950 so presumably this was taken then, with the X-1 perhaps flown under the '29 next to it in the line-up.

Love those two photos of B-17B Mary-Ann - just wish the photographer had walked around to take a side view with the tail number and saved us a whole lot of time on research!

Thought I'd post an image of some of the South Pacific stuff I've collected. See how it reads at such a large scale. Not too bad I guess. More of these to come soon.
