I don't have much in the way of photos yet as I've been fighting computer issues on 3 different computers. However, I was able to process these on my laptop at Reno during the event. They were picked at random, usually late at night. I set up all the good ramp shoots of the week.

Thats about all I have for now, but I've got another 8K images waiting for me to process...

Great chronicle of your first (and last) Reno experience! I remember walking around in awe my first time as well. I agree that one of the best parts (after the races) was the accessibility of really famous people - this is my wife's hat:

Image

I understand completely why you passed on section 3 in favor of a pylon spot - that's something I never was able to do. I did watch from outside the perimeter fence along the valley of speed one year. That was the 2011 Unlimited Gold race - never went back. I will miss the camaraderie of that group - all the fierce loyalties of NASCAR, but anyone passing anyone at the finish pylon got a huge cheer. Pretty Polly's pass on Sunday may have been the loudest in years! All of the noise went to a silent prayer in unison, however, after any incident on the field. I'll also miss the opportunity to tend that huge flag. When they first unfurl it it's at shoulder height, but it drops to waist height for the anthem. Those of us underneath it had to take a knee, but it was for a good cause!

Image

Finally, it's too bad that the three-way battle we were hoping for in the Gold race never materialized. There is nothing like the sound of the fastest piston engines in close formation. I have a cell phone video from 2013, but can't figure out how to post it.

I do hope that they try it again somewhere in the future.

Thanks for your kind words and memories Chris (coolest hat ever, go Mrs garbs!!). I really wanted to get to Section Three and to do it on Sunday had been my plan all along...with the way things turned out I was emotional enough at the pylon so I think it worked out for the best.

Bring on 2025, wherever that may be!
