Is that additional armor protection for the co-pilot on "Classy Chassy", or battle damage repair? If additional protection, can't say I blame them as it looks likes the fuselage has several patches all over.

Yes, that's cockpit armor.

Here's a pic of some over on the pilot's side...along with one of my favorite pieces of nose art.

Noting quite captures the true essence of the brotherhood of fighting men than a crew that names their bomber after the Aircraft Commander's girlfriend (Ann Shackleford...."The Shack") and adorns it with a winged phallus flying toward her posterior.

One of my favourites too. This photo from the Mark Brown collection was obviously taken not long after the armor was added, temporarily obscuring much – too much - of the female form. The artist was Duane Bryers, a great guy and happily signed an enlargement of this photo for me back in 1981.

And yet the AF still can't figure out how to trade the Barksdale B-24 to Yankee Air Museum.

Or Historic Wendover Airfield! We have a nice HUGE mostly empty hangar and I seriously doubt we will be getting a B-29 to put in there anytime soon.
Well, truthfully it would be great to get it ANYWHERE out of the weather!
