The unfortunate Sonofabitch Second Class Curtiss SB2C Helldiver was designed/engineered not by Curtiss's noted Don Berlin but by a guy named Raymond C Blaylock, a Curtiss engineer. I can find no evidence of anything else that Blaylock ever did. He seems to have made this momentary appearance in history and then disappeared.

Does anybody know anything else about his history?

Appears he rose to VP of Chance-Vought Aircraft, Dallas, by 1959.

So he redeemed himself with the Crusader? :)

His career took him from a type you rarely hear anything good about to a type you rarely hear anything bad about.

Of course reality is never quite that simple.

Article from his time as Chief Engineer on the Helldiver.

Apologies for ridiculously large image, embed code wasn't working as desired.

He continued employment in 1961 through the Ling-Temco-Vought merger as "vice president and technical director".

Mr. Burdette S Wright discusses a trip he took "to the "strike areas" of the Far Pacific to see his planes' actual performance in combat against the Japenese." About two-thirds into the article Wright mentions Blaylock joined him on this trip.
