As a regular at Hurlburt Field, I see these aircraft all of the time. It is a great display of Air Commando history.

Kudos and many thanks to those few groups that find ways to get the public access to these historical artifacts.

It is weird - no, it is BEYOND weird - to see the "U-Boat" as a pickled museum artifact. An old modeling buddy of mine, Bob Waltman, did a lot of the armament development/testing work with that ship; I remember him telling us about some of the non-classified stuff during our weekly model club meets on the base.

I'm fortunate in that I live in Fort Walton Beach, home of Eglin AFB and all of it's auxiliary fields. I was born and raised here. I remember, as a kid during Vietnam, my dad worked on the development of the AC-47. Of course, later came the 130 and 119. All were tested here. During my Army career, I coordinated AC-130E/H fire during live fire training both at Ft. Bragg and when we deployed to Eglin. Now they've progressed through the U to the J. The J is an F'ing bomb truck and now they're testing and mounting a high energy laser. What an evolution...
