Hi Matt,

the Vintage Aircraft Association does so (though only of the aircraft it judges), and has photos of its winners since 2009 available. Scroll down on the Aircraft Judging page. Or you can go straight to the 2023 Antique, Classic and Contemporary winners.
On the whole I second your suggestion, though. It always takes me a while to find out who the less expected winners are too.

Best,
Roger

Thank you for the links! Some nice looking aircraft there. I will have to check the Vintage site after the show every year.

Got through about half of the photos I took - early in the week it was pretty bleak due to all of the wildfire smoke. All I got from Monday & Tuesday was Thunderbird - haze was so bad my camera's autofocus couldn't pick up on a plane in the air even with the focus point set to just the center dot...

Only the T-6's flew on Tuesday. We heard that no one else would even go up in the haze, but also heard a lot of crabbing later that no one else got to fly. Hard to say. As it was, the T-6's made three passes, with 10-15 minutes of slack time between each run. Even later in the week, the warbird airshows had only a fraction of planes in the air that we were used to. In past years, they would launch "everybody" to go to their holding areas and call them in as briefed. This year, they would launch 4 Mustangs, have them do 3 passes, land them, and then launch 3 Corsairs. I have to think that the Dallas tragedy had a big impact on the show schedule this year.

Got a few more from Wednesday:

Rod Lewis' Connie finally arrived on Thursday, too late to be judged for Post WWII Grand Champion:

Here's a teaser for the Thursday Corsair show. Obviously the hopes of getting 12-14 Corsairs to show up were wildly optimistic:

The EAA Flickr photo feed has some great pics for anyone who hasn't checked it out yet.

Here are Thursday's Corsairs - not quite the pageant I was expecting, but cool nonetheless:

And then some current inventory:

"Team Polaris" arrived on Thursday:

And the classic Jets flew:

Plus, we finally got to see Bonnie in the air:

A very nice piece of work! My 2 cents - I'm fine with it when someone finds a wreck and does a new build replica based on that identity, especially if they display it in it's natural environment. If they crank out 5 copies with the same ID, that's a step too far.

Finally getting a chance to process the Friday shots. The Polaris team flew first:

3 MiG 17's were next. I tried to get a good shot of all three in AB, but to no avail:

Bombers & Transports flew next:

Now that I think about it, four Mustangs flew just before the bombers, finishing with a nice fan break:

WIS ANG put on a nice display of their capabilities - much better choreography than whoever did it last time:

An F-35 beat up the field for a while:

Class of 45 took off together, but got to do their solo routines before joining up for their formation show:

All for tonight. Got Randy Ball and the Heritage flight left, and then Saturday.

Great shots as always. I particularly like the silver beech 18, and the DC-3. kind of interesting that a jet marketing company would use a DC3.

Randy Ball took off next for his solo act:

You needed a front row seat to get clear shots of his low passes:

And the Heritage Flight:
