On a side note. I hope that if they rebuild it they put some funky nose art and the name "Tree Hugger" on the side.

Two crashes into wide open fields, but both times ended up in the trees.

Two engine failures on two engine types too?

The Sea Fury curse it seems.

The documentary JohnTerrell mentioned is available on Youtube:
https://youtu.be/-HDQ7Na7xM8As for the parting-out after the 1990 crash, I saw the outer wing panels here in NZ in February (unfortunately I didn't take any photos). Was a bit surreal given I'd spent previous days looking at photos and videos of G-INVN that were taken hours earlier!! I also never realised the wings themselves came here, I'd figured it was only the fold parts.

From memory, all the wreckage went to NZ initially, then once it was stripped for parts, what was leftover (including the paperwork) was sold to Chuck Greenhill in the US.

Zac, are the wings still in NZ?

I've sadly not been back to Ardmore since, but I can only imagine they're still there.
The passenger in last week's crash, pilot and writer Dave Unwin, has been interviewed for a great newspaper article:

I read an article today with the pilots stating how lucky they were to survive.

Okay, a couple of thoughts here. The airplane is obviously cursed. IF it is rebuilt then it needs to assume a new identity , data plate and please don't ever paint it silver with the same fuselage number again. That number and paint scheme need to be retired.
2) There's a Sea Fury project for sale with Courtesy Aircraft for sale for $475K. IT'd be easier to take your insurance money and buy that one and finish it out than to try to rebuild what is left of the two place Sea Fury.

The AAIB report for the incident has been published
https://www.gov.uk/aaib-reports/aaib-in ... -20-g-invn[During the aircraft’s second flight following maintenance, its engine oil temperature rose and the oil pressure started to fluctuate. The engine then seized, forcing the pilot to make a landing in a field. The aircraft was extensively damaged and both occupants suffered serious injuries.
Examination of the engine revealed extensive internal damage which resulted from the failure of a main engine bearing. The cause of the bearing failure could not be identified but the investigation determined that contamination of the oil system was the most likely cause.

This investigation report is very thorough and well-written.

The remains of WG655 are now for sale. Hopefully this means she can be rebuilt!

If I have this right, that is about $191,000 for the wreckage.
