This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I hope this is the right section of the forum, just thought I'd try and tap into the knowledge and networking of members over "the Pond".
Back in the late 90's, there was a guy in NY who built a replica of the DH.71 racer G-EBQU in his apartment (!). It flew a few times in the early 00's, but seems to have gone quiet since.
Does anyone know where this replica is now and/or whether the owner could be contacted? The reason I ask is that I recently visited the DH Museum at London Colney, UK and spoke to someone involved in the build of the static replica they're currently building. They've tried contacting the builder of the airworthy replica, but without success. The following link is the builder's website, with an email address that has gone unanswered when the museum have tried to use it.

The museum are doing a great job but with very minimal information, it would be great if they could be put in touch with this guy.

The builder/owner and pilot of this racer is currently the only person alive who has ever flown a dh71.
He has about 40 hours +/- flying it.
He's a very skilled builder and pilot.
I have examined it up close and it is beautiful.
An incredible achievement.

I was able to get in touch with the builder of this dh71.
He said he would reach out to the de Havilland museum to answer any questions they might have.
I certainly didn't want to speak on his behalf, but knowing how justifiably proud he is of the accomplishment, figured he would be glad to assist.

Just resurrecting this thread to say that I've this week had confirmation that the two parties are in touch and the project looks like it will really benefit from the knowledge from Stateside.
Many thanks to all who've helped out with this, especially Andy.
Just goes to show how useful this forum can be.

Thanks for the positive feedback!
Michael is justifiably proud of his very faithful replica.
I was fairly certain that he would be happy to help, but obviously could not speak on his behalf.
We'll look forward to learning of the DH museum progress.

There's also another flyable example (G-ECDX) nearing the end of a protracted build in the UK. It was started many years ago by the late Ron Souch, and is now with Steve Jones for completion.

Thanks Mike, that's news to me.
Do you happen to have any contact details you could PM to me, or even pass on to DH Museum yourself?
Many thanks.

The owner of 'DX is shown on the CAA's G-INFO website. Just typed in the reg. and it shows the registered owner. Won't put the name on here but the weblink is
