P47 test pilot autobiographies

Wed Nov 02, 2022 11:42 am

Seeing as there is a lot going on regarding P47’s at the moment, I wondered if any of you guys know of any books written by any P47 factory test pilots of the time about test flying them. Along the lines of “Whistling Death” by Boon T Guyton ( Corsair ) or “Sigh for a Merlin”, by Alex Henshaw.( Spitfire ).

Perhaps there isn’t anything written but if there is I am sure someone on here will know. Thank you in anticipation.

Find a copy of;

"Flying American Combat Aircraft of WWII", Robin Higham, ed.
Stackpole Books, 2004
ISBN 0-8117-3124-3

One chapter in that excellent book is "P-47 Thunderbolt", by Mark E. Bradley with Helen Porter.
I think you'll find what you're looking for there.
