I saw it after Hurricane Andrew picked it up and moved it around some 30+ years ago.
My helicopter hovered over it, got a pretty good look at it.

Pity Weeks hasn't done something to it.

I saw it one time around 2008 or so. It had the wings off and was sitting in one of his hangars...

From a few years ago when the Museum was still open and you could tour his storage buildings-

I remember hearing (or reading) somewhere that all the repairs made on the 17 post Hurricane Andrew were payed by the insurance company at the time. After the repairs were done Kermit must have had other priorities and just decided to store the airframe as is. Pretty amazing when you consider all the multi-engine WWII aircraft he owns

B-17 x2
B-23
B-24
B-25
B-26
Short Sunderland
C-47 x2
A-26
PBY-5A
Lancaster

Am I missing anything?

Oh yep. I saw Fyrtle Myrtle in Florida and I believe he has at least 2 more in storage in California.

Is the Connie (actually a L1649A Starliner) his now? It was one of the three airframes saved by Maurice Roundy and originally on loan to Fantasy of Flight.

Isn't this one being restored somewhere in Owatonna?

Did this B-17 fly from Paris to Tamiami or was it trucked there? And who were the pilots who flew it if that was the case.

On a different note, I really thought this amount of birdsh!t only emanated on planes at Chino...
