Another book of great interest (if you like WWII air transport) is "Flight to Everywhere) by the photojournalist Ivan Dmitri. He traveled "everywhere" the ATC flew in 1943 and documented it in color... C-87s from USA-India, B-24s in N. Africa, Sicily post-liberation, the North Atlantic route through Goose Bay... really fascinating. With a foreword by Hap Arnold. Recommended if you can find it.
