This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Here's some from the family photo album. My 2nd uncle, George Soltis was in Patton's 3rd army as a radio/electronics repair technician. Even though he was a ground pounder he still had a fondness for aviation hence these shots he was in or had taken along the way.

George with a downed BF-109

JU-88 Night-fighter Gas tank or mattress in front?

FW-190 seen better days

P-47 downed by Flak. Pilot captured by Germans

Front of the P-47

Heres what it said on the back.

P-47 at reserve field somewhere

One for you Black Widow fans.

Okay what the heck is this thing? Anyone?

Great pics!
Interesting paint job on the Siebel (or it could be a Czech-built Aero C-3..there aren't any visible markings to ID it conclusively.) Doesn't look like a typical winter camo..could be civilian.

They always looked like little HE-111's to me!
Nice pics Chris, thanks for posting them.

This is the only captured aircraft I have taken by my mom during the war on a bond drive in Miami.
It appears to be a BF-109F. Any one with more info on this aircraft would be welcome.

I'm scanning a list of "Incidental Aircraft" that were at Wright Field in 5/44, includes some captured planes.

Here is a great website showing captured aircraft in WWII. All sides and with some really interesting tales.
