The Convair L-13A is a contender. It’s even nicer than the Boeing YL-15 in attendance that won a golden wrench award a few years back. The L-13 has some of the brightest and most flawless polished aluminum at the show. The aircraft is flawless.
.

Can you post multiple pix of it? and any info(where its from?) Have a soft spot for the L-13, thanks.
Also, thats a different kinda prop dome on the Curtiss Electric prop for the Wildcat.

The L-13 (N6615C) has been owned/operated by Pat Harker (C&P Aviation) out of Blaine, Minnesota for quite some years now. Here is a photo of it as posted to EAA's Flickr stream this week: https://www.flickr.com/photos/eaaairven ... 335683297/ I think he has the largest collection of flying 'L' and 'O' birds, with more projects in the works or in waiting.

That particular Wildcat at Oshkosh, the F4F-3 owned by Rod Lewis, has always been fitted with a Hamilton Standard prop ever since it was restored in the mid-90's. The Curtiss Electric prop was considered too hard to find and too unreliable. To look more the part, they put Curtiss Electric decals on the prop blades (not uncommon to see on some P-40's and a certain Allison-engined P-51 as well, where they have Hamilton Standard props but with Curtiss Electric decals to look more authentic).

Here is a great over all view of the "Fightertown"/"Mustang Corral" parking, looking quite full as of yesterday: https://www.flickr.com/photos/eaaairven ... 341795645/ (many more great photos, if you take the time to peruse through EAA's Flickr stream)

With it being over the top authentic and detailed throughout, the Fagen Hellcat will win the WWII Grand Champion award (fully stock interior, with all original details/hardware present, fully detailed gun bays, original type R-2800 with working turbocharger/blower, etc.). I think the competition for the Post-WWII Grand Champion award is quite large this year, with the WHF Corsair, Hannu's Mustang, Bob Bull's F-86A and Corsair, etc. - that is, if they've all been entered. Looking forward to hopefully seeing the CAF Minnesota Wing's BT-13 winning an award this year too.

Thank you, Dan K, for sharing all of your great photos! Please share more if you can, I've been really enjoying them. It is nice to see the "Rosie th Red" artwork applied to "Miss Kitty III" - albeit not in the same location as on the original, but I understand that the data block stencil on the fuselage is taking up space in the location where that artwork had been applied on the original.

You are very welcome, John.

Since my iphone and I will never win any artistic awards, we try to be opportunistic with whatever presents itself at the moment!

Yes it is. They have been working hard on it over the past year. The intention is to race it when its rebuilt. The project is being spearheaded by JR's grandson.

Just when you think a premier event like Oshkosh is immune from such things....some goons stole the CAF Airbase Georgia Rides Booth

Someone stole our tent, signs, cooler... our whole rig from our spot in Oshkosh! Seriously.....
If you saw anyone near our area on the evening of Tuesday, July 27 or the morning of July 28, or if you see any misplaced Airbase Georgia branded stuff, can you please message our page?! We have filed a police report, but if anyone out there knows anything, we sure could use the help.
If you know anyone who is at #OSH21, please share!

Where was the stuff located on the grounds? Seems like there oughtta be enough cameras and people around that someone saw something.

Perhaps the camera feeds from the grounds caught a few images if they are spooled somewhere for future reference.

Only speculating but motive is likely someone(s) with a ax to grind that had intent to impair our warbird rides....doubtful anyone was trying to match a rides booth with their post-modern living room furniture.... :(

Some wonderful photos here, thank you all! The Hurricane and Tsunami are particular personal highlights.

Please forgive my ignorance: what's the ID/origin of the Dauntless on a trailer? A unique display!

A Lake Michigan recovery from 1993 (?) destined for a non-flying restoration/display.
