Paul Allen Stuka project status?

Mon May 31, 2021 8:15 pm

with the recent listing of several of Paul Allen's long term projects including some very rare and desirable airframes, I have to wonder

Where does this leave the Stuka project?

Its been some time since I've seen any update, but I doubt it's finished and if they're cancelling projects, even projects as far along as the B17 I have to wonder what will happen to the Stuka

For me this is the biggest question among the FHCAM uncertainty (although the Me262 was so close to flight one must wonder what's happening there too).

I've been wanting to see this machine fly since I saw the wreckage in the Warbirds Over Wanaka 1994 book as an eight year old and recent progress had me so very excited.

And the FW-189!!!!

Where ever it may be located these days.

It would make sense that both the Me-262 and the Stuka should be completed and test flown so that if the collection is sold both would be more attractive to a buyer. And the museum should produce some high quality video of both for posterity.

I'm curious about this as well. However, I'm pretty sure the Stuka, being as rare as it is, will find a home relatively easily.

Sometimes rarity bites you on the ability to sell. The higher the value at sale time, the fewer that have the ability to commit the funds. Look at some of the more rare aircraft that have sold in the last few years. Yes, higher pricing, but longer and longer on the market before a buyer is found and the deal struck.

Think about the XP-82...

Well, it is possible that the current sales might be used to raise capital to finish said projects. Sell of the extras or not so attractive aircraft to fund the rare and almost flying.

I really would like to see air under their wings, and I would like to see the FHC crew finish these birds themselves.

Does anyone have any contact with Jason Muszala?

True, but the XP-82 isn't exactly iconic. The Stuka is about as iconic as you can get. Show a picture of the XP-82 to a random person and they will probably think it is photoshopped. Show them a Stuka and they would probably know it was German from World War II. Try finding a WWII documentary focused on the European Theater that doesn't have a Stuka in the credits.
