I just wish footage or photos would come to light of Paul Mantz’s B-25 camera ship (N1203) as it executed the formation takeoff with the B-36.

Only problem is that it's not 300' wide, but only 200'. Been on it a number of times in both aircraft and trucks over the last 36 years.

Camera ship on the parallel taxi way?
Ahh WiX...the perfect place for "discussions" about where someone parked an airplane in an emergency, wheel well paint color, and now runway widths!

Yep, 65 years later, they have narrowed it to 200' and extended it several thousand feet. Funny how things change over time.mike furline wrote:Dimensions 11999 ft x 200 ft / 3657 m x 61 m

It's probably just inflation, 300' in 1955 is only worth 200' in 2021.

When the movie was made in the 50's, as you can see from watching the video, the runway was a hundred feet wider. Check it out...
Here's a link to how the field looks (today) on google maps. If you check the paved width of the runway, it is 300'. They have painted edge markers at 200' wide in the 67 years since Strategic Air Command was filmed.
