Grumman Avenger: where was Norden bombsight located?

I am guessing that it was located just above the radioman/bombardier's window into the bomb bay, with a view outside as soon as the bomb bay doors are opened. Correct?

Any other Avenger/Norden insights will be welcomed, as I gather the bombsights were basically useless. (I'm doing an Avenger cover story for Aviation History magazine.)
