I love the scheme too since I was stationed at Glenview in the 80s. BUT, why didn't they keep the Salem scheme? I know this is always a controversy, but the Salem scheme is original and hardly different from the Glenview version. Yet, more correct.

Corsair 92050 wore many different paint schemes besides the Salem markings in its Navy career. The Salem paint markings are the only one that we have a picture of and we thought about it. The owner has deep ties to the Chicago area and Corsairs were stationed at NAS Glenview. He chose the paint markings of Glenview because of that connection.

Whatever the tail code or whatever the paint, it's a great restoration and we should all be thankful of another Corsair getting airborne. It's a great paint scheme to my eyes, there aren't really many choices when it comes to US military Corsair schemes, and if it's gonna be blue then that reserve band is a great addition.
If US audiences are getting bored of blue Corsairs, there are always the various RN Fleet Air Arm schemes...

It looks terrific and it's nice to know it's an airframe that hadn't flown in fifty years versus a cleanup of a 1980-1990's restoration.

I agree that it is absolutely gorgeous !!! I realize that there is a lot of miles between them - but I hope that one day someone is able to get some air to air photos with this Corsair and Steve Hinton's new Bearcat also in NAS Glenview markings...

On May 14, 2019, John O'Connor's F4U-7 N965CV was severely damaged in a runway excursion due to an aborted takeoff. On July 3, 2019, the Vintage Wings of Cananda FG-1D C-GVMC was severely damaged in a landing mishap.
Technically, you could remove the FHCAM/Vulcan FG-1D N700G, which of course isn't currently flying though is perfectly airworthy (with the museum closed and rumors of eventual sale/auction), and I believe N11Y has been at Ezell undergoing a complete makeover and refurbishment.
