I will miss The P2V firebombers a lot. Here's Tanker 141 working a nasty little brushfire North of Reno Nevada.

As well as remembering Tanker 141 I'm trying to figure out all over again how to use Flikr -- it's been a while since I've posted images here. I've already failed a couple of times, but this seems to work...

I think I've probably mentioned it before on the forum, but I do wonder why some kind of water bombing memorial flight hasn't been formed. Colourful aircraft, lots of noise, some flames/pyro's and a water drop finale. Sounds like a hit show to me, and a very fitting tribute to all the guys who've lost their lives in waterbombing ops over the years. Not saying it would be cheap, or that I have the money, but it's a good idea...

Ps. Great pics, the Neptune will be sorely missed.

WIX wont allow me to post larger than 1024 x 1024

1500 pixels wide and 822 pixels high was rejected

I have no idea, Sledge. I've not used Flikr for a long time, and found it unintuitive at best even back then. Yesterday I finally started a new account (changed email long ago made the first one unavailable to me) and had a challenging time even getting that first shot up. I resized the color ones and got them posted, but I'm not sure how. The bottom line here is I need a 12 year old to show me how to do this stuff...

Funny how I can shoot all day with a 50 megapixel camera and tune the photos in Photoshop that evening and never think twice about any of it. Show me a basic site like Flikr and I turn into a bumbling old person.

WIX won't let you post anything larger than 1024x1024 as an attachment, but photos hosted on other sites like Flickr and posted here using the Img code, with the image address pasted between [img]and[/img], can be as large as you want.

I know you were talking to Sledge, but thanks for that, Chris. I didn't even know that WIX had the attachment feature -- I see it now. Even as small as that, it could be useful for things better not seen as publicly as on Flikr. I'm more comfortable with the WIX community than with the Flikr community. I really distrust those big sites...

Boy -- we got a long way from Neptunes. I have a few more I'll put up later -- after I do the dishes.

I used https://postimages.org/ ,posted 1500px on there, ended up with 1280px on WIX

This is the only time I've ever seen a water drop over dry ground at an airshow (it seemed different from drops on to lakes, which are an occasional feature up here in Canada). I don't know where the airplane was based (Minden, maybe), but this H & P PB4Y made drops each day -- not far beyond the main runway. They were dropping red white and blue water for the Bicentennial. The crowd absolutely loved it. I think it could be a great airshow feature, as a tribute to the guys who do stuff like those guys in the first post are doing oout there in those canyons...

I'm gonna show my ignorance, here (or maybe my rapidly depleting memory banks), but what is the origin of the white over grey with red lightning bolt color scheme? Is it a Hawkins and Power thing, Canadian military, or what. As well as many Neptunes there were a bunch of C-119s up in Greybull after they were banned from dropping. I seem to remember them being ex-Canadian and I remember something with that lightning bolt. I'm afraid I'm not much of a markings guy...
