Podcast suggestions?

Wed Nov 18, 2020 1:50 am

Looking for aviation related podcasts to listen too. Currently I am going through the Fighter Pilot Podcast (Highly recommend it BTW!!!) but will run out of episodes soon. What show/podcast should I move onto?

My first reaction would be:
Read a book
I know podcasts are a big thing for some people but I have never understood the appeal. I've practically had people put a gun to my head to make my listen to a few, the way they insisted on it so strongly. After each time, I either stopped part of the way or after a few minutes, asked, "...and why did you think this was so important to listen to?" I've tried a few before that, for military history and aviation/railroad topics. None appealed to me.
I guess I just don't get it. Maybe it's also that I can read faster than I can listen?

I can't speak for anyone else but when I am listening to a podcast I never just sit and listen to it unlike sitting and reading a book. I am out in the garage, in my workshop or on a long drive. I find I work on projects more if I have something to look forward to listening to.

I am not a big podcast listener, but I have at times enjoyed episodes of:
- Airplane Geeks Podcast - http://www.airplanegeeks.com/
- Xtended - https://aviation-xtended.co.uk/
- Airline Pilot Guy - Aviation Podcast - Airline Pilot Guy
- The Old Pilot's Plane Tales - The Old Pilot?s Plane Tales | Airline Pilot Guy - Aviation Podcast (actually a subchannel of the previous one)

The Wings Over New Zealand Show - covers all aviation areas, but many interviews with veterans and warbirds people
Cold War Conversations - sometimes with aviators
The Cold War Vault - sometimes on aviation topics
WW2 podcast www.ww2podcast.com - sometimes on aviation topics
AeroSociety Podcast - Royal Aeronautical Society UK. As well as recent lectures, they are digitising lectures from the last few decades

Two Problems...
1. I listen at work and while driving
2. State Police and my boss frown upon reading while doing either of these activities
