This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I think she might have found out a bit more about that niche audience than she was expecting.
Not that its going to change her mind though......but might have taught the stupid woman a lesson though.

Weren't there other shows during the year besides Flying Legends? I remember there being a fall show I attended in the late 1990s. Saw Black 6 there but it didn't fly due to the winds.
I also attended a car show/fly-in on a grass strip somewhere north of Southampton that had some great warbirds and civil aircraft on display. Maybe it presents greater opportunity for more regional shows though, but obviously, they won't be as large.

The October show was cut from the Duxford calendar several years ago, not quite sure what the reason was. The IWM still stage a May show and a Battle of Britain themed September show, plus a couple of showcase days a year. The point about Legends is that although it was hosted at IWM Duxford, it was organised by TFC and it's the arrangement for TFC to run the show and take the biggest cut that's been pulled. Content wise, the IWM shows are usually a generic mix of modern jets, acro teams, warbirds etc, rather than pure warbird/piston shows.
Great shame to see FL come to an end at Duxford, it was the perfect venue for it. Fingers crossed for an alternative site, but there really isn't anything else quite like Duxford.

There were several years of bad weather for the Autumn Airshow, so the IWM decided to replace it by adding a second day to the May show (which had previously been a 1-day event) instead. That way they maximised their takings while still having the same number of airshow days per year.

Thanks Mike, I had an idea the weather was something to do with it.
