Remember, before 1962 and the unified tri-service designation policy, the Navy designation would have been the FJ or FJ-1....thus pushing back the designations for all the Furys by one.
So it it would make the straight wing Fury the F2J and the swept wing jets the F2J-2, 3 and 4.
