I happened to be watching the live feed of anchorage, ak airport on you tube. As the camera pans around I think I spot a disassembled pby-Catalina next to a building, and you can clearly see part of a wing and engines. Can anybody confirm?

There is scant info on that website but I can tell you that the Catalina concerned is the former USAAF OA-10A Catalina (so not a PBY) s/n 44-33954, c/n CV-465 which forced landed following starboard engine failure at Dago Lake, AK 30Sep47. It was later donated to Alaskan Historical Aircraft Society (AHAS), Anchorage, AK and was moved in stages by helicopter airlift to its current location between Sep84 and Aug87. It was on the USCAR as N57875 until Mar13.

If they need airframe parts, Pima still has several large fuselage sections left over from their recent project.

Judging from what you can see in the storage area, they include 2-3 rear fuselage sections and more.

Not sure they are all owned by the Pima museum however.

At any rate, it would be good to see them put to use somewhere...like the PBY wrecked in the making of that film.
