US Demobbed (http://www.usdemobbed.org.uk/locations. ... ation=8680) says it is 52-5303 and also has a photo showing it in a much better condition. The airframe apparently came from Anoka, MN (Polar Air Museum or American Wings Air Museum?) by way of the Valiant Air Command Museum in Titusville, FL (http://www.forgottenjets.warbirdsresour ... 25530.html).

Seems there's more than one mislabeled item in this auction.

Item #46 is listed as a T-33 windscreen. I'm confident many of you will discover its true identity upon closer examination!

Also, item #60 is a nice Mk 29 bomb release lever.

I won't be bidding on anything, but hope much of it goes to good WIXer adoption parents!

The F-86H came from (Dross Metals?) next to Davis Monthan via Oregon. It was most recently at Slippery Rock, PA.

Reference F-86: Visited the Warbird Museum at Titusville during August 2004 and the F-86 was sitting outside. The airframe was painted the same silver without markings except for U.S. Air Force on fuselage. The thing I noted was no landing gear doors with any of the wheels. In fact, the wheels looked to be too small for the Sabre. Also no serial number on body. I stopped by the West Pennsylvania Warbird museum in August 2007 and what appeared to be the same Sabre was setting on the ground with wings bucked up to fuselage unattached laying on top of cinder blocks, the paint scheme exactly the same as at Titusville. No serial number seen...Only other aircraft sitting outside at this time was the Beech 18 and the Ercoupe.

How did it get from reasonably presentable to the dented, singles hulk it is now?

Back in the early '80s there was a F-86L in a Boise junkyard in better shape.
Probably still there.

Do you mean how did it turn from a complete F-86F into an F-86H forward fuselage?

I'm not all that sure these are one and the same aircraft. Are there any WIXers in the area who can get a shot of the left side of the cockpit to compare? Maybe the faded number 57 on the auction plane's nose gear door could be a clue?
