Paris museum re-opens wonderfull Grande Galerie in style

Mon Dec 09, 2019 6:14 am

After 7 years of work, the Grande galerie of the famous Musée de L’Air et de l’Espace in Le Bourget, near Paris , is having a grand reopening on December 14th. In this renovated 1937 Art Deco style building, that used to be the airport terminal, are shown the pioneers planes such as the Santos-Dumont Demoiselle and some WWI planes such as a Bréguet 14. A truly magnificent place ! See for yourself in the below 3 minutes video shot by a French magazine that was allowed a private « before » photo session.

That looks great! Wish it was open when I was in Paris this past June!

Funny, my wife and I were there this past May, right before you were.
I wouldn't have time to have seen it, as my wife wasn't too keen on going to the Musée de l'Armée at Les Invalides as it was the first day we were there...

We completely skipped everything Paris and headed straight for Normandy although we did see the eiffel tower from the 777 we flew in on.... We stayed about 5 minutes from Omaha beach and were there for the 75th anniversary of D-Day. Beautiful area despite the sad history that took place there.

This museum supposedly has the original fuselage fabric removed from the Spirit of St. Louis after it's arrival in Paris (they recovered the fuselage because it was damaged by the crowd). I don't believe they have ever displayed the fabric...
