This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I am disposing of several Department Of Defense Surplus Sales Catalogs that contain military aircraft type, serial and BuNo numbers, the base the disposal occurs, date of sales and other info. The booklets have been gone through more than once, but are still very usable and should yield several hundred bits of information if you are interested in following individual aircraft history. The booklets only deal with the disposal periods and nothing else. In many cases a winning bidders list are included. I will mail out - no charge and I pay for shipping... If interested, pm me

Can you post a pic of what you are talking about? Would it be something to put on a thread so we all could see it?

Joe - I don't have the ability to quickly send out photos on the WIX format. What you can do is go to eBay and type in item # 263538679587 which is a photo of several non - aviation bid books to get an idea of what they look like...
Col. Rohr - These catalogs begin in 1970 and no N3N's are listed...By the way, I sold an N3N stripped fuselage to a gent in California with the number 25 on firewall...
Al - Your F7U is something I thought I would never see in restoration this far - Congrats. Let me check - I may still have original catalog for bird in New Orleans...

Guys,
I just bought these via Woodsy’s auction. Give me a little time but, let me see what I can do to create PDF documents and share them here as I think everyone should have an opportunity to see these DOD auction catalogs.

Col. - Yes...The fuselage was obtained by John Nessy whom owned a surplus business at the Strongsville Airport, Strongsville Ohio. He told me he brought those back from out west - I think it was Arkansas along with 3 others. I don't recall if there were any of the others left. As you can see it was obtained in October 1980...I like the accompanying photo of her in better days....
