I'm not sure if it would be harder keeping that Skyraider in oil, or oven cleaner.

Nice shot Mazda.

August, Snowbirds camping in vintage is just so totally Canadian. I love it!

Here's a couple, Ken:

Promised a Mosquito photo as well. Unfortunately he never banked towards the crowd while in front of me:

Others in the Brit flight:

Warren wrung the Spit out a little lower, later in the week:

And Bernie Vasquez followed suit in Lope's Hope:

Jim and Scooter can always be counted on for a tight formation:

All for now. I have a decision to make. Hate to reopen the debate, but I'm 50 photos away from locking out my Flickr account. Better to pay up, try to go back and delete fluff, or find a plan B?

Hope to see your photos again in one of the mags, Will - hoped you were on it when I came out of the WB banquet and saw the lightning!

Thanks kindly for the stunning A-1 pix! We had 5 former SANDY 1 pilots on the sidelines Thurs and the scarf over the canopy rail was for them. In addition, I'm aware of two Spad veterans in hospice right now anticipating the flight West in about two weeks. If you're so inclined, please take a quiet moment to remember these heroes who helped keep our nation free.

I enjoyed the show, especially the night show.
But it didn’t scream ‘Year of the fighter” with no P-38, P-47 and the Hellcat didn’t fly.
Year of the P-51 maybe.... :hide:

True...

They should have dragged her out with their XP-51.

When was the last time she saw daylight ?

"Marge" has been pulled outside during AirVenture week for at least the last 10 years, as the Eagle Hangar is used as a banquet hall during this time.

Was very disappointed that Lopes did not fly last year, but my disappointment was definitely erased with Bernie putting her through her paces this year!

If Collings had brought Pudgy, I would have hoped that EAA would have dragged Marge out to sit next to her. McGuire and Bong P-38s side-by-side would be a special sight. Maybe in some future year.

Here's Marge in 1982 when she was still taxiing under her own power. I suppose this is pretty close to the last time she was run.

A little bit of the Canadian content from this year's event.

Two nice RCAF-marked Expeditors. The first one C-FTLU is at OSH most years, but I hadn't seen N6670 before.

Two RCAF Chipmunks (because I missed Andy's  ). The first is really an ex-Danish machine, more or less in British configuration, but a prior Canadian owner found a clever way to put it in accurate RCAF markings, painting it as one of the first few RCAF Chipmunks acquired from the British for evaluation.

If I can ever say "Nice Beaver" without thinking of Leslie Neilson and smirking to myself, it will be while look at something like this. Can't do it yet, though.

I saw on Courtesy's web site that this plane was going to be there, and needed to go check it out. The plane's placard says it was built for the U.S. Army as a UC-64A and, in civilian hands in 1958, it was the first to be converted to a metal Norseman. Great looking aircraft.

Nice pics.
Chipmunk N26JH marked as 18010 is pretty convincing.
It is actually a British built bird and there are several tell tales.
The most obvious is the battery hatch, on the port side just aft of the canopy.
There are a few different scoops and the stall strip on the port wing is over twice as long.
We really enjoyed meeting the terrific folks that operated these fine aircraft.

Did Kermit bring any planes this year? Haven't seen any threads or videos about his Oshkosh preparation like he's done in the past.
