So they have invited all of them. How many have committed to attend?

I suspect they won’t get many more than the impressive 25-30 they usually do for the week. Just because EAA puts out an invite for specific types of warbirds doesn’t mean they are going to pay anything...unless someone has stepped forward and offered to pay all those expenses...

The usual ones - the Roush B and D pair, and the D model Old Crow,Gunfighter, Petie, Lopes Hope etc will probably all go. Probably get a few new ones, however as Tim said don't expect more than 30. It's a lot of travel for many of them. I would hope the ones in the nearby states would all attend though. Stallion 51 tried to invite as many Mustangs as they could for Sun N Fun a few years back, don't think we got more than 15-16 unfortunately. Sadly one that attended in 2018 won't be there in 2019 Peco's Bill

As mentioned, Sun N' Fun tried for a large Mustang gathering in the last few years. They were advertising 30 at one point, but as I recall bad weather kept many aircraft from making it and the tally ended up in the mid-teens. Given the number of operators and individuals who support EAA and attend Oshkosh, number 30 seems like a realistic goal. There are certain operators who won't come unless they're getting an appearance fee and you have to factor in pilots that will be busy bringing other aircraft, won't be available or aren't into the Oshkosh scene. I'm just hoping for a few from outside the group of regulars.

I've heard a rumor that the Couches H model will make the trip back. It would be really cool if the Whittington's brought theirs up as well.

Considering next year will be the 75th anniversary of the end of the war, maybe the EAA should shoot for a record Mustang attendance for then.

Pull out all the stops and see how many of the war's most numerous surviving fighter can be gathered.

I spend a lot of my time at Oshkosh in the Mustang Corral. The usual P-51 count is between 20-25. There is a core group of about a dozen or so that attend every year. A couple of the regulars have been lost due to accidents and Chuck Greenhill sold at least one of his P-51s. There are also a few that seem to attend every few years. My main interest is in seeing the recent P-51 restorations. I have been pretty lucky as it seems each year I see one or two that I have either not seen before or not seen in a long time. Thirty or thirty five would be great.

Unlikely, as it is currently on the way across the Atlantic.

I imagine that's why Thunder has B model Crow and Jim listed. It'll probably be there for awhile
