The engine on the left is a Packard Merlin V-1650-7 coming from P-51D 44-13663 that was recovered in 1981 by association Ailes Anciennes in France.
The wreck was displayed for a few years at the Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace at Le bourget airport, before being given back to our association. The engine was loaned/donated in 1991 or 1991 and was on display in a museum near Utah Beach, and is probably still there. The rest of the wreck left for England in August 1997.
