The bubble would be a welcomed improvement for egress... Getting in and out of the 63 is no easy task, especially with a parachute on.

It almost looks like it has (bullet proof?) glass inside of the roll bar (?) behind the pilot's head...

Any idea what the little probe hanging off the bottom of the wingtip is?

Look at the rudder trim....

Is the new cockpit affecting the yaw balance?

BTW...it also looks slightly lengthened...Is it just me????!!!!

Edit: almost look as an F82 single body flyer.....

Yes :-)

Ya but if you do a close up analysis of the P51 vs the P82/F82 you se that the fuselage is very different in length and shape.

The pics for the bubble canopy P63 makes me thenk the same....looks a ''bit'' longer. Could be me however!

Not really, the P/F-82 fuselage was 57 inches longer than a standard Mustang.

Remember hearing a story at Oshkosh back in the 1970’s during the gas crisis. Lynn Florey lands and is getting out of his P-51. An excited bystander runs up the wing asLynn is getting out and says “Is that, is that a P-82? That’s a P-82 isn’t it.” Lynn replied “ oh yes it is. Left the other half at home. Gotta save fuel you know!”
