Hi all,

I doubt it'll be too difficult for people to track me down while I'm at Oshkosh. We'll have a core group of 2 Aussies and 3 Kiwis wandering around. As the event gets closer, we can make some arrangements to meet up anyway.

Hi Don,

Thank you very much for the greetings and also for the invite to Creve Coeur. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like I'll be able to make it there this time around. Will you be at Oshkosh yourself though? I'll also reply to your PM that you sent.

Cheers,
Matt

Matt... you have obviously never been to OSH. Your 'core group' will be one of about 10,000 other 'core groups'. Hope you enjoy it, tho.

Looks like a good many of us will be wearing 'WARBIRD LINE CREW' shirts!

Definitely. Any visitors should stop by "Area 51"... and ask the volunteers if they are 'WIXers'... as I can say with authority that there are at least 4 of us posting here....

Yeah, I can see it now. With my luck I'll approach the only German line crew volunteers there, ask "Any of you guys WIXers?", and get thrown off the ramp for lewd behavior. :P

Besides, you line crew folks are too hard to catch up to/tackle on those darn scooters. Maybe a semi-stationary object (like the B-25 of a certain magazine editor, wink wink, nudge nudge) would be easier to formate around.

(Ok, I guess if they were German it would be, "Sind sie WIXers?"...my bad.)

Drop by the P-51 area Dan - most of us just walk over there.

Glad to hear you're not in with the two-wheeled terrors, Mark V!

The real reason I can't meet in area 51 is that I'll get blacklisted by the Celestial Brotherhood of Roundmotorheads. The farthest west I go is the line of porta-potties behind the Warbird Cafe.

What is expected of the volunteers in the warbirds area?

We can provide most of the food and if there is a concensus on drink, we can provide that as well. Otherwise byob. All WIXers that will be at AirVenture on Friday are invited to attend. Festivities will probably start around 5:30pm since I have to work until 5. We can grill chicken, steaks, or whatever else you all have in mind.

So, if anyone interested just let me know. At some point I'll want to get a rough headcount so we know how much food to prepare. Thanks!

Zack

I have less than 30 days till arrival... are the plans solidifying, or atrophying?

Festivities at my place...

Thu Jun 22, 2006 9:36 am

Here is the plan so far for a cookout at my place on Friday the 28th during AirVenture. We'll start serving food between 7 and 8pm and food will be available until late, so anyone arriving after 8 will be fine. My wife and I will provide: burgers, brats, bbq'ed beef for sandwiches, and the typical fixins such as potato salad, pasta salad, chips, etc. etc. If you want to bring steaks or something else to cook up, or any other side dishes that's fine. We'll also provide pop/soda and I can pick up a couple of cases of beer, but since I don't drink beer I'll need a consensus on what to buy.

We are lacking in the lawn furniture dept., so if you can bring a chair that would be great. We're kid friendly so if you have kids with you at AirVenture and want to bring them, that is fine too. My two boys (2yrs and 4 yrs) will be under foot and they are always looking for new kids to play with.

Location - 1919 W. Waukau Ave. The house is located right at the SE corner of Poberezny Rd and Waukau Ave. It's a cream and red colored ranch with two-car attached garage. Poberezny is the frontage road that leads to the campground, and Waukau runs directly down to the FAA tower, so the house is very easy to find and within walking distance of the convention grounds.

If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or other you can reach me at zbaughman@eaa.org. Thanks all!

Zack,

I probably won't be able to make it for the cook out since the family and I will have to head out shortly after the airshow on Friday. However, I'll hopefully run into you (and others) while I'm there. I'll have my WIX'er shirt on so I should be easy to spot.

Zack,

You and your better half have gone way beyond the call of duty! I'm good for 15-20 folding chairs from the school where I work.

Any chance there's enough room to park the minivan at 1919 W. Waukau, or should I drop off the chairs and keep moving?

Be sure to let us know when you need a final headcount. As of today it's just me and Ron "Kaigun Fan" Werneth (and maybe a teenage son or two).

Hi all,

Well I thought I'd bring this thread alive once again since the big show is so near. I'm flying out of Australia on Wednesday morning and will be hitting Chino, Seattle and Minnesota before getting into Oshkosh. I'll be there Monday through to Friday, before leaving early Saturday morning for NY.

To assist anyone in recognising me, I'm aged in my twenties and will likely be wearing either a black "Beaufort Restoration" shirt, or a blue shirt personalised with "Matt" and with an Antique Aeroplane Association of Australia logo on it.

I'll ask around for any WIX members around the Warbird area. Looking forward to meeting a bunch of you.

Cheers,
Matt
