ATAC Hunter N323AX lost HNL, pilot ok

Thu Dec 13, 2018 10:16 am

On the news this am. Two Hunters have been at Hickam for the last couple weeks flying utility for the F-22s and others. I saw them out on the ramp last week, and they looked as Hunters tend to...simply awesome.

Pilot ejected from N323AX yesterday, and she went into the water at low speed off Honolulu. Nearly 64 years in service, she was a very long lived and beautiful fighter aircraft. A shame to lose a plane that way, but spectacular they are still in service and operational in almost “front line” service. A superb design.

Good to see the Martin Baker seat still doing its job after 64 years, bet they never thought it would still be saving lives all those years ago

Glad the pilot is OK. Yes they have gotten their money out of that airframe.

I assume they were shipped to Honolulu as deck cargo or in a connex box?
