This is a two year old news story, not too long after CAF moved their National Air Base at Dallas Executive (Redbird), but I'm sure there will be more complaints when this year's show takes off next week.

The thing is --- The southern part of Dallas has been economically challenged for years. The CAF relocation is pumping money (jobs) into an area of the city that needs it.

I used to live in San Diego. I grew up under the flight path for Miramar. Between the Phantoms, Tomcats and engine test cells running at night, it was pretty noisy there in the early 1970's. But my parents knew it when they bought their house and we got used to it.

Years ago I was talking with a lady in front of her house which was under the departure flight path for Lindbergh Field. During our conversation we had to pause as an airliner passed overhead. As soon as the plane was gone, she told me her husband was a lawyer and on the board to get the airport moved. I so badly wanted to say to her, "there's been an airport there since before Lindbergh crossed the Atlantic and you' didn't know there planes taking off over your house before you bought it?" I get so pissed at people who move next to some kind of noisy location and then complain about it.

I am not the grammar police, but this is too much: If it's too loud, you're too old.

I used to live directly under the landing path for Lindbergh Field, pretty much the last house before the runway. Wake turblance from the planes would sometimes knock over the furniture on our front porch. I really didn't mind because I knew what I was getting into and I like planes. I actually put one of those "I like airplane noise" bumper stickers in my front window.

Well, Redbird is my home airport and there are some cranky, cranky neighbors. I've been to some of the city meetings that they come to. Some people just won't accept things no matter what and it's best to not worry too much about it. The city's done some good work to improve the runways - it's not just for the bombers, there's a real sense that it is an up-and-coming airport and maybe more jets will eventually be there. We've got two runways as opposed to Addison's one, and plenty of room for new hangars and such.

Capitalization can also be crucial.
