Re: CAF aircraft that stayed in 'Civilian' paint ...

Those are great pictures of the CAF T-6’s. I own a Harvard Mark II under restoration that was owned by E.J. Payne and C. R. Garrett around 1965 and was associated with the CAF 1965 to approximately 1974, registered as N9787Z.

I suspect it was painted in the same CAF house colors and hope to find a picture someday

1. Does, or when did, the CAF require all their fleet of aircraft to switch to military type schemes?
2. If not the first question. Are there any CAF aircraft that wear civilian schemes today only?
3. Are the 'Wings', where ever they are based, allowed to choose either a military or civil scheme on their aircraft?
4. Who among the CAF decides scheme decisions?

Hey Mark,
this all made me find this old thread that started in 2008 and talks about the old CAF schemes.

By page 6 they discuss the history of the paint schemes.

Mexchiwa, Air Classics had a photo of it in the mid-70s that was taken before the CAF got it. IIRC it was white with a darker color wrapped around the nose, with the spray bars still on it and "N" above the number "67921" on the fin - let me see if I can find it.

ETA: Got lucky and found it on the third copy I looked at. Air Classics, May 1976, page 12; photos by Robert T. O'Dell:

Goodall shows it listed to an individual from 62-75 when the accident occurred. Never registered under any of the entities the CAF has been known to use.

This one is a Bill Larkins photo;
Bill Larkins
Douglas A-20G NL63148
Beautiful modified executive plane at Sacramento, California, in November 1952.

This one was registered at one time to Paul Young in Oceanside, CA. It crashed in the Gulf of Mexico on January 2, 1955 near Loreto, Baja California, Mexico killing Dianna Bixby.

I remember it as a light brown or tan color.

IMDB trivia for Dianna Bixby;
She was flying a Douglas A-20 Havoc Serial # 43-22217 when it crashed into sea in bad weather off Loreta, Baja California, Mexico on January 2, 1955, killing her.
