2019 Restorations

Hey folks. It may be a bit early for 2019 but it is never too early to talk and get excited about restorations coming in the future. So, what have we got that could fly for 2019?

-FHCAM ME262. Heavily rumoured to be the artefact announcement sometime this month with talk it will fly early 2019.
-MAM P-39 at Ardmore, NZ.
-Lewis Air Legends Mosquito at Avspecs, NZ.
-XP-82- finally?
-Collings Foundation F6F Hellcat.
-Collings Foundation FW190F.
-Hangar 10 FW190A at Meier Motors.
-Ex-TFLM F8F Bearcat that never made it to flight testing in the summer.
-FHCAM P-38?
-Kermit Weeks' A-26 Invader at Aero Trader.
-Kermit Weeks' Boeing 100.

I'm sure I'll think of more as the hours/days go on!

Hoped to fly at NZ Warbirds Open Day on November 18th. If not, will be on static (taxi?).

In probably it’s only public viewing in New Zealand the Bell P-39 AIRACOBRA that has been beautifully rebuilt at Pioneer Aero Ltd will be on DISPLAY at the New Zealand Warbirds Armistice Day Open Day Sunday 18th November.

IF it is signed off in time and approved to fly - we may see it fly, but it will definitely be here on static display - Don't miss it !!
Once it is ready, it will be containerised and sent to the States to it's new owner.

Currently being painted. I'll be taking my camera to work during December, as I'm about 25 minutes from Ardmore. May be on static on the 18th (AvSpecs have done so with other nearly-complete projects).

So why should this year be any different? POF P-59!

To add to those already mentioned...

- Fagen Fighters SB2C Helldiver (the hope is to have it ready for Oshkosh 2019)
- Dakota Territory Air Museum's Hawker Hurricane (former Lone Star Flight Museum example, slated for completion in 2019)
- Dakota Territory Air Museum's new P-51D (getting very close to completion in North Dakota)
- EAA's B-25H "Berlin Express" (already closing in on completion)
- Collings Foundation's "TP-40N" (converted former Evergreen P-40K - original estimate in 2017 was that it would be done/ready to go by late 2019, as I recall)
- Max Alpha's Sea Fury D-CACE (at MeierMotors)
- A few more Spitfires, at least (projects getting close to completion in England, Australia and New Zealand)

I'd bet on 2018 for the XP-82. I don't have a date, and they ain't talkin', but I visited it on Friday and it looked very close to flight.

Although more "re-creation" (using some original parts) than "restoration", a personal favorite is Jack Van Egmond's Fokker D'XXI project. First engine runs are predicted for late 2019.

While I think of them, after a substantial break the Chariots of Fire Omaka NZ FlugWerk 190 is aiming for Classic Fighters at Easter, and perhaps the Aussie Corsair at some stage?

Recent photos on flickr.com show the He-219 fuselage to have been moved back into the Baker restoration facility, presumably for installation of new radar masts (copied from pieces recovered from the recent recovery off Denmark).

I understand that only the landing gear remains after that. Let us hope that the Heinkle can be assembled this coming year.

I would guess, however, that "Flak-Bait" would not be finished in 2019. Most of the current work at NASM is on space items (Surveyer, for example) and the rocket sled that would be used in the new "Speed" exhibit.
