Planes of Fame to leave Chino

I saw on Facebook this morning a proposal for the Planes of Fame fleet to start to leave Chino within the next couple of years to relocate at Lincoln, near Sacramento. I guess with the expansion of the commercial side to Chino and how already busy the airport is, it was always going to be inevitable.

Wow! Chino w/o the Planes of Fame. How strange would that be!

They have had to move because of encroachment before and Chino is no longer the rural cow-town it was when they moved there ~50yrs ago.
If they are really coming to NorCal;
- Lincoln is beautiful compared to Chino
- Bluer skies, cooler temperatures and greener landscape
- Much closer to Reno, Ione and the Bay Area
My first airshow was the 1975 Lincoln Air Races.

I read through the proposal for a museum in Lincoln. Nowhere does it say anything about moving from Chino.
POF has an enormous amount of infrastructure in Chino, and it is pretty crowded with airplanes. The rest of the airport is not exactly crowded these days, meaning the city are not out of room to expand elsewhere on the airport. I would not be so quick to assume.

On the other hand, there is a lot higher humidity, more rain and even snow. Weather will dictate that for a much longer portion of the year, all work will have to be done indoors with associated heating costs. Chino by location has a very high tourist traffic, while Lincoln doesn't get anywhere close to the same number of people. They'll go from being right next to the largest urban area in the country to out in the country. Sounds like a step towards becoming a private collection to me....

How important is the museum, monetarily, to the group?
If it's a major source of income I can't imagine them moving everything out of Chino.

All conjecture/logical thinking on my part:
1. Possibly a threat to get better terms from San Bernardino County?
2. Maybe the Yanks lawsuit has merit and isn't moving in the favor of POF? AFAIK the airshow is their primary source of annual income. If that income stream was shared with multiple entities (besides the county), they may not be able to cover operating expenses in Chino any longer.
3. A benefactor or sales of some aircraft would likely be needed to make this move (to build the infrastructure/museum buildings).

After reading the Resolution, this appears more like the creation of a Northern California base than it does moving EVERYTHING from Chino.

A friend of mine in the area contacted them by phone, and they said it wasn't a planned move- but more considering another remote location like the Valle, Arizona.

I certainly hope not. I never travel to Sacramento but I go out to L.A. here and there and it was nice to visit both museums in Chino when I was there. Not too bad of a trip from LA on a Sunday when there isn't much traffic. I managed to get March Air Force Museum and both Chino museums in one day plus had an evening to do some spotting at LAX by the In N Out.

So,
....Mr. Wilkins added that Planes of Fame has 15 years left on its current lease with Chino Airport with two five-year renewal options.
“It’s our intent to at least live that long here,” he said.
The museum, at 14998 Cal Aero Drive on the north side of the airport off Merrill Avenue, first opened in Claremont in 1957, and moved to its current location in 1973....
