I live only 45 minutes away. I'll try to get up there and get some photos.

Does Jerry Yagen actually live close to this field? I am just wondering what the significance of building it in VA Beach was?

Amazing looking place!

I don't know. But with the values of property in Va. Beach, it would have been a lot cheaper to build farer away from the coast.

I was pondering the logic of building along a known hurricane strike zone after so many recent incidents, but after looking at that structure it appears pretty darn bulletproof! Can't wait to visit the completed project. 8)

Just for everyones FYI, Fighter Factory has started moving into the new facility this week. I am currently waiting to hear back from one of their pilots on if/when the facility is going to be open to the public. As soon as I find out I will pass the word along.

How is the C-60 coming along? I assume that you are part of the group, we'd love to hear some news.

heh

As for the VA Beach Location, thats one of the main tourist locations for the the VA area, my guess is that if this is supposed to be a quasi- or full-blown museum then that would probably be why? But who would want to leave Suffolk? Peanuts for as far as you can see! And I had nothing to do with those barge incidents in the early 80's

I have heard several reasons why they decided to build out in Pungo, I do not know which one is the true story so I am not going to repeat any of them here. One fact I do know is that grass is a lot easier on tires and brakes, neither of which are cheap to replace. It should be quite the facility when all the buildings are constructed and everything is in place.

Our C-60 is currently on jacks. We slowed down on working on it so we could concentrate on winter maintenance with the Tracker. Now that the Tracker is back in the air, we plan on removing the engines and props, get them crated up so we can ship them out to be overhauled/repaired. Once they are off the plane we can replace the broken landing gear attach fittings and get the girl back on Her own legs and off the jacks. Our biggest hindrence right now is money, our best estimates are between $150,000-$200,000 to get her back in the air. If anybody would like to make a donation (which is fully tax deductible) go to our website, www.olddominionsquadron.org, and click on the pics of the C-60 which will take you to our donations page.

Hmmm,

I love the monster truck at the intersection of Pungo and Princess Whatshername.
