If you look really hard it says USAF on the side of the plane.

Here is a pic of the paint scheme the CAP used after they got these from the USAF in the mid 70's. You can still see where the AF markings were removed.

I found this photo on Steve D's excellent facebook page for small aircraft of the Korean and Vietnam wars. It has a combination of all the early paint schemes for the T-41A. There is the original bare metal with the black top, then there is an all grey with a black upper engine cowl, and in front, there is the longest lasting white paint scheme with the black upper nose cowl. Since I am using this site to document this stuff, it is a great pic.

So this is what it is all about. Going to Sun N Fun and meeting this guy:

Mr Jerry Anderson flew this airplane as a civilian instructor at Laughlin AFB in 1969-70 early in his career on his way to becoming a Continental Airlines Captain. Jerry flew a beautiful Stinson Gullwing to Sun N Fun from Texas. He commented that the program really pumped out capable pilots, almost to the level of a commercial pilot minus the cross country in the 38 hours they squeezed into the program.

I have stayed in contact with Jerry (above) and he dug around in his hangar, and he sent me a treasure trove of cool stuff from back in the day! The class yearbook was absolutely hysterical and brought me back to the politically incorrect days of actual humor. This class, 70-01 decided to do a "Playboy" themed yearbook, including "Flyboy Advisor", "Flyboy After Hours", and even a takeoff on the cartoon "Little Anny Fanny" called "Air Farce Phanny". If I could, I would award these guys a "Real Men Of Genius" award.

Lo and Behold, Jerry saved a big surprise for me. Page 6 and 7 (Flyboy After Hours) had a nice big picture of my airplane from 1970!!

He also sent me copies of his logbook including the flights he did with numerous young men who went on to great things. Thanks Jerry!!
