Aircraft Military Record Cards

Thu Nov 24, 2016 3:01 pm

I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction, I was wondering whether it is possible to get copies of military service record cards for USAAC aircraft and if so how would I go about it? I am particularly interested in Stearman records.

Many thanks, and happy thanksgiving.

From request to arrival was nearly 6months for me last year...

NASM usually answers requests in a few weeks and it's free. https://airandspace.si.edu/archives-research-request

"Could you please send me a copy of the Aircraft History Card for AAF PT-17 Stearman s/n 42-xxxx ....... " or something along those lines. I believe they will only do one aircraft per request. So, 10 separate aircraft would need 10 separate e-mails.

AFHRA will supply microfilm rolls if you are looking at doing the whole run of Stearmen (Stearmans?): I've done similar for F-86s.

Takes a long time to go through, but beats the heck out of Wiki and other sources of plagiarised error.
