A sight that warmed the heart on a cold winters morning here at Omaka airfield. The Maude P-40E unloaded after its long journey from Canada. It will be assembled and placed on display in the new hangar extension at the Aviation Heritage Centre on loan for the next year. The new WII hangar 'Dangerous Skies' exhibition which will open in October will feature the airworthy Spit XIV, Anson, Yak-3U, full scale Hurricane and Stuka etc all placed in 'period' dioramas.

Similar to the current 'Knights of the Sky' WWI hangars:

What a unique angle. You can see the hard points for external stores and the gun camera fairing(with camera inside?) looking forward to the assembly pictures!

I don't know who to credit these photos to, but these photos used to be online, and illustrate the time capsule-like state of the interior of this aircraft:

I think potential non Canadian buyers will find that the Canadian Gov,. will most likely block any sale outside of Canada
due to our Heritage Act.
That is currently happening with the Martin Mars aircraft .

John, the photos were taken by Trevor McTavish and can still be found on my website, here...

Thank you! I tried diligently to track down the original source and couldn't come up with anything - I should have known they came from your website (and thank you to you and Trevor McTavish for sharing them).

Here is a direct link to the P-40 Hawks Nest webpage on the Maude Kittyhawk, which has a couple of great photos of the aircraft in its original WWII-era markings: http://p40hawksnest.co.nf/Survivors/AK803.html

one of the family members used to be a wix member and us-aircraft member. I haven't seen him around in awhile. I really hoped it would stay in Canada. It should never be flown.

It should be flown. All over Canada in its all original Canadian markings. Even though the all original wing was swapped out years after the aircraft's release from service with another rebuilt all original wing from a different all original aircraft.
