No, FIFI is not coming to fly with Doc today. She is selling rides in Aurora, IL today.

I heard that Fifi reference during the pre-flight activities too. Certainly a big tease. Lol.

Happy to see Doc in the air. Wonderful. :drink3:

So that means there are at least 2 current B-29 crews, correct?

Questions:

1. How many full current B-29 crews are there?

2. Any chance of seeing Doc with Fifi at Osh?

The flight crew for Doc today was from the CAF B-29 flight crews, of which there are several. This was a very experienced crew. I gather a member of the Doc group accompanied the crew but I do not know in what capacity. I congratulate them all on the successful first flight. Doc will have to fly off some number of hours locally, I'm sure, before being able to tour or travel. I hope someone with more details will provide them on Doc's future flights. Hope that helps.

We have the capability of putting about seven Totally qualified and current B-29 crews on the field right now. Until the Operating Limitations are changed, Doc requires an FAA certified Engineer. FIFI does not. My suspicion is that Doc won't require that much longer. As long as an FAA ticket Is required, that cuts the crew number down to two as that is the number of FAA certified engineers we have trained and current in the B-29.

So how many hours are they required to fly off for certification? 20? 40? whats the cost per hour of the flight testing phase? or is it just "cubic money"? (money^3)

A deeper question...in terms of pockets.....will "Doc's Friends" need to partner with a larger organization to put the plane on tour?

Here is a good article.

http://www.kansas.com/news/business/avi ... 44877.html

Quote:
Murphy said he expected Doc’s next flight to occur sometime shortly after the Experimental Aircraft Association’s AirVenture show in Oshkosh, Wis. That’s because the the flight crew that assisted them with Doc’s first flight will be busy at that airshow, which runs the last week of July, supporting Fifi.

What is the plan for Doc once flight testing is successfully completed (optimistic)? I know it's written somewhere, but between scant time for research and being lousy at it, I hope I can get away with just asking (guardedly optimistic).

Cheers to a successful 1st flight (as if there was ever any doubt)!! :drink3:
