Is this prop from a T-6? (also, display opinions?)

For good reason - my wife has forbidden me from getting on eBay when I could not sleep… But she never said anything about Craigslist.

Anyways, I found this prop on Craigslist. (Now also an insomnia prohibited website.) It was listed as being from a T-6. Although it was over 160 miles away, I thought the asking price of $350 was a good deal, so I jumped on it.

Here it is during the ride home… I placed a wood plank in the wife’s car to protect the carpeting, and strapped the prop down. That way, if I had to hit the brakes hard, it would not go through her dashboard. (My vehicle is a work van that should not be trusted to leave the city limits, so we took her car. The use of her car cost me a fish dinner for two on the way home.) The prop has some serious pitting on one of the blades. (I was told it had been in a barn for a long time.) So I plan to fill the pitted area with body putty, repaint the entire thing and apply new Hamilton Standard decals.

Although I was told it was from a T-6. I have no way of knowing if this is true. That’s where you guys come in… I cannot find any numbers on the blades, clam shells, or center cylinder. Here is what I can tell you. It is 93 inches across and the clam shell center is 9 inches across. Any ideas?
It is too heavy to hang in the garage with some of my other airplane parts, so I built this wood stand for it. I tried to model the stand after a shipping crate, and I’m thinking about painting it OD green and stenciling the prop manufacture and model number on it. What do you think?

I won’t be too disappointed if it’s not from a T -6, although I already have a couple of other parts.

BT-13: Diameter - 9' 1/8" maximum, 8' 9-3/4" minimum

Cessna 190 (Continental engine)/195 (Jacobs engine): Diameter: (Not over 93 in., not under 91-1/8 in. This would be a 2B20 hub (SAE 20 spline). 240 HP on the Continental, 245, 275 or 300 HP on the Jacobs.

The 2B20 was used on a lot of aircraft besides the Cessna 190 & 195. Could be off a Cessna T-50 as well. Look for something with a controllable prop and a Jacobs, Continental or Lycoming radial engine.

Thank you! I believe that you are right, it could be a 2B20. Using your information, I did a Google search of images and found that a lot of civilian 2B20 props had red rather than yellow tips. A little sanding showed traces of red tips on this prop. I will probably repaint it with red tips.
As for the stand, since the prop is most likely not military, I may stain the wood dark brown rather than painting it OD green. I will probably still stencil “Hamilton Standard Mod. 2B20” on the piece that supports the center cylinder.
Thanks again!
