The Spitfire fuselage is painted and has a standard RAF roundel in place. They still have the original (very crumpled) skins so will be able to reproduce how the star is superimposed very accurately. It will be a very special Spitfire. They have also recovered a great many parts which were incorporated into the build.

While I understand and even sympathize with those who are somewhat tired of 332nd schemes, this particular one is done so incredibly well that it's hard to get upset about it. It's also a European-based P-51, so that makes it very unique in that area, and also serves as a potent reminder to Europeans that there were a lot of men who didn't look anything like the people they fought to liberate from tyranny and oppression. That's a worthy message in and of itself.

But mostly, I am just overjoyed to see someone pay such close attention to replicating the wartime markings carried by the original "Tall In The Saddle"... this thing really stands out and though I may get flamed for it, I have to say I like this one a LOT more than our own CAF "Tuskegee Airmen" P-51C. Maybe Aircorps Aviation will be able to talk the CAF into putting the ship back in natural metal when they rebuild it, but even if they do, the tramp stamp will remain.

Thanks for the lovely pics- what scheme did this aircraft carry previously?

Lynn
